BJP firm on hoisting national flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar

The BJP today said the party is firm on its plan to hoist the tri-colour at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on the Republic Day and will also pay homage to war martyrs in Uri and Baramulla.
"We will go ahead with our scheduled programme of visiting Uri, Baramulla and Srinagar to pay homages to the war martyrs like Brig Rajinder Singh and Maqbool Sherwani, besides hoisting tri-colour at Lal Chowk in Srinagar", state BJP chief Shamshir Singh Manhas said told party workers here.

He slammed National Conference and Congress for critisising BJP youth wing's Rashtriya Ekta Yatra and their plans to pay homages to the martyrs and hoist tri-colour at Lal Chowk.
Manhas said leaders of NC and Congress are misleading masses in order to divert attention from the failures of NC-Congress coalition government in the state.
Paying floral tribute to Swami Vivekananda on his 150th birth anniversary, the BJP leader said "for Vivekananda, the nation, humanity and universal brotherhood were the main objectives of his life."
BJYM state president Munish Sharma, on the occasion, criticised all such elements who are opposing the hoisting of tri-colour at Lal Chowk.
He said that even the constitution allows every individual to hoist tri-colour "in a respectful way" and the BJYM activists are not going to commit any crime by doing so.
